IREPOR the Honorable Mayor and .C..,ty Council <br /> T <br /> From the City Manager <br /> <br />July 1, 2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Award the bid and execute the Agreement for Mezes and Dolphin Parks Tennis Court <br />Resurfacing <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Award the bid and Execute an Agreement with First Serve Productions of Danville, California in <br />the amount of $15,300 for the resurfacing of the tennis courts and replacement of the nets and <br />straps at Mezes and Dolphin Parks. <br /> <br />Background <br />There are 14 tennis courts in Redwood City parks, each surfaced with a colored acrylic top coat <br />finish. Annually, staff evaluates the courts to determine which needs to be resurfaced. <br />Typically resurfacing is required every 3-5 years depending on location and use. This year, the <br />tennis courts located in Mezes and Dolphin Parks are in need of resurfacing. In 1999-00 FY, <br />the four Red Morton Courts were resurfaced with Marlin and Andrew Spinas Park courts in <br />2000-01 FY. The remaining courts to be resurfaced are Shorebird which will be done next year, <br />assuming funding is approved. <br /> <br />Bid proposals were solicited from three tennis court resurfacing firms. Two bids were received <br />with Cushman Construction, the third firm, not responding as they were too busy with current <br />project commitments. <br /> <br />Below is a summary of the bids received: <br /> <br />BIDDER BID AMOUNT <br />First Serve Productions of Danville, CA $15,300 <br />The Thompson Group of Emeryville, CA $ 27,320 <br /> <br />Alternative <br />The alternative to entering into this agreement is to reject these bids and direct staff to find <br />alternate ways of maintaining these tennis courts. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />Sufficient funding has been appropriated in the Parking Lot Resurfacing Program CIP Account <br />(357-72154) for the work. <br /> <br /> and Facilities Director, Parks, Recreation and City Manager <br />Superintendent Community Services <br /> <br /> <br />
