<br /> <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />i <br />.~ <br /> <br />157 <br /> <br />Park Superintendent Pasco Balzarini reported that because of heavy <br />rains, the land is not ready at 2nd Avenue and Bay Road for the <br />installation of sprinklers. <br /> <br />Commissioner Schutz asked that the Circle Park survey be held in <br />abeyance until the next budget. <br /> <br />Commissioner Beals read a report from Fire Marshal Asvos regarding <br />the condition of the Veterans Service Building at Mezes Plaza, in <br />which he stated the structure is in poor condition. Chairman Gold <br />appointed William Hanley to "investigate the cost of renovating this <br />building. <br /> <br />Recreation Director Alfred Morton gave a report of the estimated cost <br />of covering the bleadhers at Hawes Park #1 at $9,280. Also the cost <br />of eight steel poles for combination softball and baseball lights at <br />Community Park at $24,528.97. MSC William Hanley and Maurice Schutz <br />that a letter be written to the city council asking their consideration <br />for the covering of Hawes Park #1 bleachers -- 1st base line $3,085, <br />scorekeeper $1,100, 3rd base line $5,095 for a total of $9,280. <br /> <br />Park Superintendent Balzarini reported that his department has painted <br />the fence and equipment at Chestnut Park and has hauled in sand. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gerry Verssen advised that a possible assessment district <br />will be set up including the property adjacent to the Y.M.C.A. at <br />Poplar, Ebener and Geneva streets will provide this lot with street <br />access. <br /> <br />MSC Gerry Verssen and Louise Tornell that a letter be written to the <br />city council advising them that the Commission has no use for this <br />property for Park and recreational facilities and that we refer it <br />to them in view of the fact that it will be included as a possible <br />assessment district in the future. Commissioner Hanley voting no. <br /> <br />Pasco Balzarini left the meeting at 9:50 p.m. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold read a letter from Ray Murphy of Murphy & Hasting, <br />engineering firm, giving their opinion of what a master plan for <br />.Stulsaft Park entailed. Preliminary planning should include contour <br />map, topographical map, drainage and sewerage, utilities, service <br />roads. Chairman Gold to investigate this further. <br /> <br />Commissioner Beals reported continued progress with the San Francisco <br />4gers. <br /> <br />MSC Catherine Brennan and Maurice Schutz that a letter be written to <br />the city council recommending a new swimming program.
