<br /> <br /> <br />r <br /> <br />149 <br /> <br />Park Superintendent Pasco Balzarini advised that the turf at 2nd <br />Avenue and Bay Road has not yet been installed because of ground <br />conditions. <br /> <br />Commissioner William Hanley reported additional study on the re- <br />novation of the building at Mezes Plaza. <br /> <br />Recreation Director Alfred Morton reported that the city council had <br />voted to cover the first base line and scorekeepers box at Hawes Park <br />at an appr~imate cost of $10,000 ~d fue installation of lights for <br />~prox1mate1y $10,000. This item to be re~ved fr~ the agenda. <br /> <br />Commissioner Alyn Beals advised that the recreation building adjacent <br />to the swimming pool will be put out for bids March 8. Negotiations <br />with the 4gers football team are progressing satisfactorily. Current <br />Problem is a fence 6' tò 6~r hi~ that could be closed to prevent a <br />view of the field within. <br /> <br />MSC Maurice Schutz and Catherine Brennan that the Park and Recreation <br />Commission recommend that the finds of the fence committee be made the <br />official recommendation of this commission. <br /> <br />A letter was read from E. R. Hoffman of Highlanders Little League, <br />requesting permission to erect a building without cost to the city, <br />for storage of equipment used at the games. Mr. Hoffman appeared <br />before the commission describing the building as approximately 8'x 8' <br />and 7' high. The building would be removed at the end of the season. <br />Mr. Hoffman will meet with Pasco Balzarini and Alfred Morton to work <br />out a'suitable arrangement. Mr. Hoffman inquired into the possibility <br />of serving soft drinks and coffee at the games, with proceeds to go <br />to the treasury of the Highlanders Little League. The commission <br />discouraged this matter because of license requirements, county health <br />requirements and necessity of advertizing for bids for concessions. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Chairm.an Irving Gold appointed the following nominating committee to <br />prepare a slate of commission officers to be presented at the April 4 <br />meeting: Mrs. Catherine Brennan, Chairman; Alyn Beals and Willi~ <br />Hanley. <br /> <br />MSC Maurice Schutz and William Hanley that a letter be written to the <br />city manager that the Park and Recreation Commission go on record as <br />favoring equalized holidays for all Park De.partment employees in keep- <br />ing with the holiday schedule of other city employees. <br /> <br />The feasibility of an answering service for the Park Department was <br />discussed.
