The commissioners entered <br />into a ,dis-cuss-ion &s to where the signs were needed most. It. was <br />the thinking of the commissioners ~hat a sign could be put up at the <br />triangular park at Chestnut and Lathrope streets designating all' <br />points of interest in Recreation. Cornrndssioner Knecht is to look <br />into this possibility and report back at the next meeting. <br /> <br />. <br />. <br /> <br />Rose Garden - Commissioner Brennan reported she has met with the City <br />Beautificat'-i'on Committee and they have given the Ros'e Garden 1st <br />priority alåo, it is progressing. <br /> <br />.., <br /> <br /> <br />Yacht Harbor - Commi.ssioner Hanley reported that $18,000 has been <br />received from the Port Commission for 24 new berths. The Engineering <br />Department is holding the ~plans waiting for the State plans which are <br />being changed. Commissioner Hanley spoke with the City ~anager and <br />stated he received no cooperation. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />It was agreed among the commissioners thnt a le~ter be written to <br />the City Manager requesting a meeting w~th the Manager and the City <br />Planning Director to d-iscuss the Yacht Ì1arbor. <br /> <br />There was a discussion on the six year plan Sllb-committee. The <br />commissioners were of the feeling that the committee was not staying <br />witb the recommendations of the Commission. Commissioners Tornell <br />was appointed to talk with the C it y l\'1anager and find out exact ly what <br />the plans for Parks and Recreation have been made by the six year <br />plan committee. This is ,t,o be an agenda item for the next meeting. <br /> <br />Wit5 no further business the meeting was adjourned. <br />Catherine Brenna, Secretary <br /> <br />RED1'JOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION- COMMISSION <br /> <br />November 4,1959 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of. the Park and- Recreation Commission was called <br />to order by Chairman ~aurice Schutz, at 8:00 p.m. in the Conference <br />Room at the Veterans Memorial Building. <br /> <br />On roll call the following were present Dhairman Schutz, Commissioners; <br />Alyn Beals, Catherine Brennan, James Knecht, Lo~ise Torn~ll and <br />William ~nley. Noted absent was Commissioner ~rving Gold. Also, <br />present were staff members Effa Mae Marker representing Red Morton, <br />r'ecreatio~ director and Pasco Balzarini, park superintendent. <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />Mr. Olrich from the State Dept. of Finance was present to confer <br />with the Commi&sion on the future status of the Union Cemetery. Mr. <br />Olrich gave a brief resume on the cemetery. Also, he told what <br />could be done with the cemetery for the future. He explained that <br />it CO1Ild be converted into a IYJemorial Park or a playground. The <br />State is ready to transfer title over to the city.
