<br />//1- / <br /> <br /> <br />September 12, 2005 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Report from Police Chief on gang violence suppression efforts <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />The City Council ad hoc task force on gangs, composed of Mayor Ira and Council Member <br />Hartnett recommends the allocation of funds to hire two (2) Police Officer positions and no <br />more than $200,000.00 for Police Officer overtime for gang violence suppression <br />operations. <br /> <br />Background <br />The Police Chief will present this report orally. <br /> <br />Alternatives <br />The City Council could direct the Police Chief to work within the Police Department's Fiscal <br />year 2005-2006 approved budget to address the enhanced gang suppression efforts or the <br />City Council could modify the task force's recommendation. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The funds are available in the City's reserves to transfer to the General Fund for this <br />purpose.
