The current fees do not cover the costs of providing the service. The expense
budget does not include all of the costs (i.e. only Building & Inspection staff costs
are included, building occupancy costs are not included, Board and Commission
costs are not included, etc.).
2. Revenue for 03-04 is actual, 04-05 is estimated, and 05-06 is projected based on
current fees.
3. The additional revenue from the proposed fees that would be allocated to the
Building and Inspection costs is $45,000 ($25,000 of the stormwater protection
inspection fee and $20,000 for the adjustments to the current fee table). The other
$150,000 would be allocated to cover costs of other departments.
4. The average FTE salary and benefit cost is assumed to be $100,000.
5. The plan review FTE is based upon a review of the previous year's records. We
estimate that this level of effort will most likely increase as construction activity
increases. The revenue from the proposed fee is for Planning, Engineering, and
Fire employees; these employees are not included in the Building & Inspection
budget.
6. The stormwater protection inspection FTE is based upon a review of the previous
year's records. We estimate that this level of effort will most likely increase as the
stormwater permit requirements become more restrictive and complex for more
projects. The revenue from the proposed fee is for Building and Engineering
employees. The Engineering employees are not included in the Building &
Inspection budget.
