Meeti~ was cal~d to order by Chair~n ~l~ce Harder <br />at B P.M. at the Veterans Memorial Building. <br /> <br />- ... <br /> <br />Prior to the Joint Meeting, the Commission met in separate room to dis- <br />cuss with a group of people representing Circle Park. Gommi'ssioners <br />present were: Chairman Wallace Harder, Jim Slobodisn, Maurice Schutz, <br />Jim Knecht and Alyn Beals. Absent~were: Louise Tornell. Staff members <br />present were Red Morton, Pasco Balzarini and 1m. Shewry. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />The group's spokesman, Mr. Price, stated they wanted to know what our <br />intneitons were about Circle Park. Their feeling. was that a park be <br />developed. Pasco Balzarini stated that he had this park development <br />in his budge~ and that i t was up to the Council to ap prove it. The <br />Commission promised to take this up with the City Council in the Joint <br />Session. Mr. Price and Mr. Hansen would donate part of their property <br />toward the~park if it.is developed. . <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />The Commission returned to the Conference Room and resUmed the Joint <br />}Æeeting. <br /> <br />I' <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />First item was the Circle Park. M S C by Jim Knecht and Maurice Schutz <br />that the Park and Recreation Commission approve this as a neighborhood <br />park, Council agreed they would check into this and come up with an answer. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Lighting and watering at night at Community Park - Council will check <br />into cost, etc., before Monday night meeting. ' <br /> <br />Senior Citizens Building - Red Morton and Wally Harder presented the <br />Council with charts to work up their plea for more use of the Veterans <br />Building. Park and Recreation Commission proposal by Wally Harder - we' <br />do not feel a new building is needed in view of the available space in <br />the Veterans Building. It was recommended by Ray Weymouth that ~, <br />committee-meet with Veterans Commission to discuss the utilization of <br />Veterans Building. On the committee representing Park and Recreation is <br />Maurice Schutz, along with Red Morton and Councilman Ron Fields. Ron <br />Fields also stated that the state grant would match all outlay spent on <br />aged people. This would be checked into and see that we are on the <br />mailing list fram the state regarding these kind of bills. <br /> <br />Jim Knecht, Alyn Beals and Pasco Balzarini championed for the Rose Garden, <br />finally Jim Knecht asked the Council to adopt the Community Park Master <br />Plan. It was taken under advisement. <br /> <br />It was recommended that Marsh Road property be purchased with no speci- <br />fied use at present and Council agreed to purchase the land. <br /> <br />Lights at Griffin Field - approved by Council. <br />Stulsaft Park - Council approved as in Pasco Balzarini's budget. <br /> <br />Friendaly Acres Area, Pool and Recreation Facilities - It was agreed by <br />. Park and Recreation Commission that a survey be made of Friendly Acres <br />to acquire land. A committee of the real estate, Chairman Floyd Granger <br />of City Council and Jim Slobodian from the Park and Recreation Commission <br />survey Friendly Acres for land acquisition.
