The Comission is very ~ch concerned in regard to the rest rooms and how vital they are at the recreation 'center. How long must the people of Red~od City wait befere s~ethlng definitely is done. - .. Minutes of January 2, 1903 Meeting ~ Regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order by ~a1man Al~ Beals at 8 p.m. in the conference room of the Veter~rs Memorial Building. . ... Following 'Connnissioners were present: Chairman Alyn Beals, Jim Knecht, Louise Tornell and Jim Slobodian. Commissioners absent were: Maurice Schutz, Catherine Brennan and Stan Sugarman. Staff members present were Red Morton and ~asco Balzarini. . Minutes of December meeting were approved with the following change; that the third paragraph should read "Minutes of November 7,1962 meeting ~ were approved as amended and delete the last sentence of the last paragraph. '" PERSONAL APPEARANCE: " ... Tony DiCarlo and Norval Denny representing Friendly Acres Improvement Club and Cecil Hall representing the Communlty Service Organization. Both groups had presented letters regarding the recreation facilities in this area. Recommendations were made to the Commission as to where and what kind of facilities should go into this area, whether it should be at Taft School or Hoover School. Red Morton presented a map indicating the population of school children in the Taft area. Red was asked if it was possible to present a map indicating the ~pçpulation of children in the Taft and Hoover area also of high school stuqents in the Menlo-Atherton area who live in the Friendly Acres area. Chairman Beals closed the dis- cussion indicating that more study is needed and asked the Improvement Club and Service O~ganization to feel free to attend the Commission meet- ings SO that they would be better informed of what is ta~ing place re- garding the recreational facilities in the Friendly Acres~area. Future discussions will be needed with groups of this area before final rec- ommendations are made. Pasco Balzarini informed the Commission that the Dove Beeger Park will be completed in about two weekslf the weather holds out. He also ment- . . toned that formal dedication of the park will take place s~etime in May~ and that the Redwood City Woman's Club will be in'charge of the dedicatim.. - The Park and Recreation Commission congratulated the Recreation Dept. for the marvelous way in which they conducted the Ele~entary School basketball tournament.
