,A report of Friendly Acres was submitted by Recreation Director Alfred
Morton. As requested by members of the Community Service Organization
Morton presented a city map showing the residence of all children
attending Taft, Hoover and Monroe-Edison Schools. The Commission re-
quested Morton to get the percentage of children living in and out of
the city limits of Redwood City and report back at the next meeting.

Red Morton reported on the Model Airplanes and stated that he checked
various residences in the vicinity of school grounds and it was the
feeling of the citizens that they were not in favor of having planes
flying in their area due to the continual noise. Morton also reported
that he received a Speed Letter from Park Superintendent Pasco Balza-
rini asking how we can keep the Gas Driven ~Æode I Airplanes off of the
new seeded areas at Community Park. He stated that there was just too
much damage being done. The Commission then requested that a letter
be directed to the City Council stating that the flying of Gas Driven
Model Airplanes on the park turf areas has become a nightmare. Every
effort has been made to inform those participating in this program to
fuel their gas driven models in the proper manner, but it has not
worked out. The Park and Recreation Commission is requesting the City
Council to instruct the City Attorney to prepare an ~ordinance prohib-
iting the flying of gas driven model airplanes on the city park turfed
> areas before all of the turf is d~amåged by the rue 1.

It is further recommended that until a permanent location is found for
flying these planes that they be instructed to use the rear area of the
Veterans Memorial Building opposite the 4ger field at 711 Nevada Street.

The C~lsslon instructed the Se~etary to send a letter to the City
