<br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION

<br />Minutes - Regular Meeting, May 1,1963
<br />
<br />The meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order
<br />by Chairman Alyn Beals. The following commissioners were present:
<br />Alyn Beals, James Knecht, Maurice Schutz, Catherine Brennan, Stan
<br />Sugarman and Robert Whitmore. Noted absent: Louise Tornell. Also
<br />present: Alfred Morton, Don Dimitratos and Bill Shewry.
<br />
<br />The minutes of the April 3,1963, meeting were approved.
<br />
<br />Mrs. Tanin Elgin and Mrs. Margaret Streets, representing the Redwood
<br />City Parents Nursery located in Community Park, asked permission to
<br />erect another storage shed next to the two they have now. Mr. Morton
<br />will check with the building inspector for his approval. Mr. Morton
<br />has no objection providing it is put on skids for easy moving, if
<br />necessary.
<br />
<br />A letter was received from the City Manager stating that the corner
<br />lots at Jefferson & Farm Hill Blvd. cannot be sold because of a clause
<br />in the deed that the land must be used for park property and facilities
<br />or the land will revert to former owners.
<br />
<br />Bill Shewry presented a map and plan for Mezes Park landscaping and
<br />the commission decided to hold this in abeyance until the budget is
<br />approved. ' '
<br />
<br />MSC Knecht and Sugarman that a lett~r be written to the City Manager
<br />requesting temporary meaSUDeS be taken to level off and grade the
<br />parking area at the end of Myrtle as Little League season starts
<br />June 2nd.
<br />
<br />Alfred Mor,ton invi ted the commissioners to the District IV meeting
<br />and dinner to be held at the Veterans Memorial Building on May 9th.
<br />The program is to be presented by the "Fun After Fifty Club.
<br />
<br />Bill Shewry reported that landscaping on the islands at Farm Hill
<br />Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue is started.
<br />
<br />Two benches have been installed at Dove Beeger Park and it is ready
<br />for dedication.
<br />
<br />Alfred Morton reported that the City Council has given the model
<br />airplane group permission to use the 4ger field until there is a
<br />permanent place selected for their use.
<br />
<br />James Knecht asked for more bleachers for May 19th and Mr. Morton said
<br />they will have them up for the games.
<br />
<br />Catherine Brennan invited the commissióners to attend the dedication
<br />
