A letter was read from MSC Knecht that a letter be written to the Chairman, Mrs. Paul Proctor, o'f the Flower Show complimenting her for a job well 'done.i Copies- of . the letter to the Redwood City Woman's Club and Pasco Balzarini. Chairman Beals asked for a new roster of the Commission. Chairman Beals suggested that a letter should be written to the City Manager to consider a bond issue in 1964. Chairman Beals asked for copies of the budget by the next meeting and this item to be put on the agenda. The meeting adjourned at 9:25 p.m. C~terine Brennan, ~ting secretàry PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION Minutes - Regular Meeting, June 5, 1963 The meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to 'order by Chairman Alyn Beals. The following Commissioners were present: Alyn Beals, James Knecht, Maurice Schutz, Robert Whitmore and Louise Tornell. Noted absent: Catherine Brennan and Stan Sugarman. Also present: Pasco Balzarini, Bill Shewry, Alfred Morton & Don Dimitratos. The minutes of the meeting of May 1, 1963, approved as mailed. A letter was received from the City Council naming the parkways at Brewster and Nevada, Laurie Duncan Parkways by Resolution 3989. A leeter was received from the City Council advising that the poss- ibility of a bond issue is to be investigated. A request from the Park and Recreation Commission for ,paving between Bechet Field and the Armory is to be presented to the Budget Committee. The request for MezesPark landscaping has been cut from the Park Department budget. Alfred Morton advised that the paving in Community Park will be seal coated by June 6th. The request for parking at the end of Myrtle Street is pending await- ing an estimate from the City Engineer. Pasco Balzarini advised that the Park Department does not want the area t Piedmont & Altamont as the slope is too g~eat. A letter is to be written to the City Manager recommending that the City does not buy this particular piece of property for Park and Recreation use as the Commission is investigating use of Hetch Hetcy right-of-way for a playground area in that vicinity. Mrs. Morgan of 34 Center Street and Mr. Jojn Rogers, a property owner at 201 Park, appeared before the Commission requesting landscaping _.._-~-..-" ".. - - -" '. :,'
