Mr. Morton was
asked to write a letter of thanks to Louise Tornell for her
many years of service to the Commission.

Letter from Mr. Neal stating that he was under the impression ,that
the Park and Recreation Commission was in favor of keeping
Stulsaft Park as a primitive area and that it should be left
in its natural state. The Commission did not remember such
a recommendation and it was under the impression that the
future work in the park would be developed along the lines
of the original Master plan for the area. Mr. Beals and Mr.
Balzarini were asked to meet with the City Manager in règard
to this problem.

Personal Appearances: Fenton Mee appeared to protest the plans
for the development of a park or playground on the Hetch-
Hetchy property on Fernside at Massachusetts. Chairman
Alyn Beals informed Mr. Mee that the Commission is on re-
cord as being opposed to the development of this area for
a park or recreation use. It was recommended that a letter
be sent to City Manager, James Neal.

Mr. Coehlo of the Redwood City Kiwanis Club appeared on behalf of
the club's interest in developing a fishing pier at the Mun-
icipal Marina. Mr. Coehlo said that the Redwood City Kiwanis

" .

Club was willing to contribute $1,000.00 toward such a pro-
ject and they hoped this would be helpful in getting this
project underway immediately. It was NBC that the Planning

, .

Commission be alerted that the Park and Recreation Commiss-
ion desires to develop such a pier and that they wish the
support of the Planning Commission in developing pier as '
soon as possible. A letter to the Redwood City Kiwanis Club
thanking them for their interest and a letter to the Redwood
City Tribune publicizing the offer of this gift and the int-
erest of the Commission in such a project.
