- 53 Acquisition Committeell consisting of Commissioners Whitmore, Chair- man; Jack Stuart and Doris Thompson would serve in this capacity. Commission suggestions for appointment to the City Committee were: interested citizens, churches, park & recreation planner from DMJM; civic associations, school districts, YMCA, Boy Scouts and other youth groups, seüvice clubs; high schools ( 1 ea. from Wood- side and Sequoia); elementary school district at least two rep- resentatives; Recreation Director Morton, Park Supt. Balzarini, and other city staff as directed. It was suggested that a story in the Tribune would be a great help in enlisting interested citizens. Chairman of the-FPPLAII Committee, Bog Whitmore, will arrange a meeting of his committee and report back at the February meeting. #5 - OAK TREE REPORT - Doris Thompson. Each commissioner was presented with a set of photostatted copies of letters and other information re tree ordinances in effect in several other cities in California. Mrs. Thompson asked that the matter be continued to the February meeting. #6 - BAIRD PROP ERTY REPORT - Jack St uart . Mr. Stuart r ßPorted that the Baird Property recreation building is now to be const- ructed in a two phase building program. IIOldll phase 1 and 2 have been combined into Phase 1 and will include meeting rooms, rest room facilities, lounge, kitchen, etc., and the adminis- trative wing for the Recreation and Park Departments. He ex- pressed hope that construction would begin this summer. IIOld" phase 3 ~^'becomes Phase 2 and includes the large assembly room "with~staging facilities. No estimate of time of construction of this building is available at this time. ì Mr. Stuart advised that Mr. Bernard Nobler, architect, had some suggestions for refinements to the preliminary plans which he would like to discuss with the Baird Property Committee and that a meeting was scheduled for next Wednesday, Jan. 12th at 2 p.m. in Mr. Nobler's office. #7 - PARK SIGNS - Mr. Morton suggested, that direction signs at Myrtle and Jefferson Avenue showing all Community Park facili~ ties would be a good idea. Progress report was deferred to February meeting. #8 - CHESTNUT PLAYG~UND - James Knecht. Commissioner Knecht asked Mr. Shewry to present preliminary plans for re-design of Chestnut Park. Mr. Knecht and Mr. Shewry explained the plans for this 105 x 1021 park which would include approximately 900 sq. ft. of playground area; inviting landscaped areas on street sides of the park: and the eventual replacement of playground equipment.
