<br />- <br /> <br />53 <br /> <br /> <br />Acquisition Committeell consisting of Commissioners Whitmore, Chair- <br />man; Jack Stuart and Doris Thompson would serve in this capacity. <br />Commission suggestions for appointment to the City Committee were: <br />interested citizens, churches, park & recreation planner from <br />DMJM; civic associations, school districts, YMCA, Boy Scouts and <br />other youth groups, seüvice clubs; high schools ( 1 ea. from Wood- <br />side and Sequoia); elementary school district at least two rep- <br />resentatives; Recreation Director Morton, Park Supt. Balzarini, <br />and other city staff as directed. It was suggested that a story <br />in the Tribune would be a great help in enlisting interested <br />citizens. <br /> <br />Chairman of the-FPPLAII Committee, Bog Whitmore, will arrange a <br />meeting of his committee and report back at the February meeting. <br /> <br />#5 - OAK TREE REPORT - Doris Thompson. Each commissioner was <br />presented with a set of photostatted copies of letters and other <br />information re tree ordinances in effect in several other cities <br />in California. Mrs. Thompson asked that the matter be continued <br />to the February meeting. <br /> <br />#6 - BAIRD PROP ERTY REPORT - Jack St uart . Mr. Stuart r ßPorted <br />that the Baird Property recreation building is now to be const- <br />ructed in a two phase building program. IIOldll phase 1 and 2 <br />have been combined into Phase 1 and will include meeting rooms, <br />rest room facilities, lounge, kitchen, etc., and the adminis- <br />trative wing for the Recreation and Park Departments. He ex- <br />pressed hope that construction would begin this summer. IIOld" <br />phase 3 ~^'becomes Phase 2 and includes the large assembly room <br />"with~staging facilities. No estimate of time of construction <br />of this building is available at this time. <br /> <br />ì <br /> <br />Mr. Stuart advised that Mr. Bernard Nobler, architect, had some <br />suggestions for refinements to the preliminary plans which he <br />would like to discuss with the Baird Property Committee and that <br />a meeting was scheduled for next Wednesday, Jan. 12th at 2 p.m. <br />in Mr. Nobler's office. <br /> <br /> <br />#7 - PARK SIGNS - Mr. Morton suggested, that direction signs at <br />Myrtle and Jefferson Avenue showing all Community Park facili~ <br />ties would be a good idea. Progress report was deferred to <br />February meeting. <br /> <br />#8 - CHESTNUT PLAYG~UND - James Knecht. Commissioner Knecht <br />asked Mr. Shewry to present preliminary plans for re-design of <br />Chestnut Park. Mr. Knecht and Mr. Shewry explained the plans <br />for this 105 x 1021 park which would include approximately 900 <br />sq. ft. of playground area; inviting landscaped areas on street <br />sides of the park: and the eventual replacement of playground <br />equipment. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />" " <br /> <br />~ <br />'.
