<br />men on weekends as park aids (at summer work program rates) but that
<br />perhaps volunteers from Scouts could be considered if parents signed
<br />release of responsibility statements; inquired on status of tennis
<br />court repairs--Mr. Morton advised that tennis courts at Community
<br />Park and Mezes Park would be re-surfaced in about 60 days.

<br />had arranged for Larry Brian to work up preliminary plans and, cost
<br />estimates for pier located between launching ramp and Marina bound-
<br />aryand should have information soon. Mr. Morton said that R.C.
<br />Kiwanis had pledged $1,000 towards the project and that he (Mr.
<br />Morton) had put $2,000 in the budget request for the Marina for the
<br />coming year. Mr. Knecht asked about the status of socc~r in R. C.
<br />and Mr. Morton said that soccer was IIdead" for R.C. as no fields are
<br />available - that schools take priority and that 4ger field was pre-
<br />sently under major repair and not availam 1e.

<br />COMMISp~q~~ ~ßOMf~ON: The City Attorney Randolph of San Mateo had
<br />said that Ira paper II was going to be presented on trees by the City
<br />Attorney of Fremont to the City Attorney's Assn. in March or April
<br />that might be of some value to our Commission on the IIOak tree re-
<br />port": that she would not be able to attend the Park and Recreation
<br />Conference in Los Angeles due to illness in her family; that she had
<br />taken pictures on Sunday, Feb. 27th of the imcompleted playgrounds
<br />~ of Friendly Acres and Stu1saft¡ Stafford Park; and the II fishermen II
<br />at the Marina; that at least 65 youngsters were using the Friendly
<br />Acres equipment, and about the same number at Stu1saft, and that she
<br />was completely amazed at such a great number at Friendly Acre site;
<br />that pictures at Marina of three different locations will show the
<br />great need for the fishing pier (Note! Pictures show 40-50 ','fish-
<br />ermenll and parents. DCT): that she would support a quiet or leisure
<br />t~e park for property next to ~~ building but ~ a park with
<br />playground equipment-suggesting Hawes Park as a better location
<br />
