117 Congratulated the Park Dept. re the letter received by the City Manager from the Calif. Assn. of Nurserymen commending the city for its landscaping improvements. Chairman Beals suggested these ideas be presented to the pärkl: Dept. for plans and costs. Mrs. Thompson commended both the Recreation and Park Departments for their outstanding interest and accomplishments in the city in parks and recreation. DIRECTOR OF RECREATION, RED MORTON: Mr. Morton asked if letter had been written to Council re dedication ceremonies for new building? Secretary Thompson apologized for her neglect in not getting letter out but that it would be in the mail tomorrow. (12-8-66 - Mr. Morton said that the new harbormaster's building was about complete and s~ggested that the Commdssion visit it. Mes. Hend- erson said that she thought a special time and date would be set for visit to this new building. CHAIRMAN BEALS: asked for name suggestions for new multi-purpose "building. Mea. Thompson suggested name of IlMorton Hall I' to honor and recognize Red's outstanding contribution and reputation in the field of recreation not only in Redwood City but within the County and throughout the State during his long service to recreation7 other suggestions were: Redwood City Recreation Buildi~g and Redwood City Recreation Center. Chairman Beals urged other suggestions be sent to him before the next Commission meeting. Chairman Beals asked Secretary 'Thompson to send a letter of thank to Me. Balzarini and his department for the Christmas party and dinner preceding tonight's meeting. (12-8-66) RECREATION SUPERVISOR, Bill Paulson invited Commdssion members to the Fun After Fifty ClUb's Christmas luncheon on Tuesday, December 20th at 12 noon at the Veterans' Memorial Building and asked that reservations be made with IIWilmali (Engebretson) at the recreation office.
