125

Mr. Masarie presented petition with 83 signatures requesting ins-
talling of two bocci ball courts at new Multi-purpose building
site:"he estimated costs at $700 for each court ($1,400 for the
two); siad that each court was approx. 8.x75. to allow for a walk-
way between them: that he would provide specifications for the
courts and dimensions to Mr. Balzarini: and that there was a poss-
ibility of donations to help finance the installation.

It was noted that the cities of Menlo Park, San Mateo, and Mt.
View have bocci ball courts: that it is a good recreational acti-
vity and not too costly to maintain.

On MOTION of bob Whitmore, seconded by Jim Knecht, it was recommend-
ed that the Commission go on record as favoring the installation
of the bocci ball courts: that funds for them be included in the
Park Department capital outlay budget requests for 1967-68: and
that a plan be developed showing location of courts, landscaping
and buffer zones proposed, and that the facility be planned joint-
ly by the Park and Recreation Departments, and that plans be
brought back to the Commission before they are installed.
