Chairman Beals thanked Mr. Schroeter for his <br />appearance, and the report. Mr. Schroeter left meeting. <br /> <br />#2 - HOOVER POOL - Alfred Morton: Mr. Morton said that pool should <br />be completed sometime in may: that swimming-instructions would <br />be given and that staff recommends rates as follows: For resi- <br />dents within the city limits - 10 lessons for $3; for residents <br />outside city limits - 10 lessons for $5.00. On MOTION of Comm- <br />issioner Gooding, and passed, it was voted that Chairman Beals, <br />by letter, recommend to the Council that these fees be established. <br /> <br /> <br />#3 - MARINI: a. Fishing Pier - Jasper Sipes. Commissioner Sipes <br />reported that Mr. Art Balsamo had prepared a plan for the fishing <br />pier. Chairman Beals asked Mr. Sipes to keep commission informed <br />on Marina Committee action. It was suggested that the wild Life <br />Conservation Commission be contacted for assistance in financing, <br /> <br />MARINA: b. Landscaping - Pasco Balzarini: Mr. Yoshida advised <br />that landscaping at the Marina would be completed around the 17th <br />of this month. Commissioners commended Mr. Yoshida on his land- <br />scaping design for the Marina and requested that a letter be writ- <br />ten containing their commendations. (3-29-67) <br /> <br />#4 - PARK IDEA PRESENTATION - Jack Stuart. Commissioner Stuart <br />showed a 12 minute movie of IIChildrenls Estate", a ch~ldren's <br />park in Santa Barbara recently visited by Mr. Stuart and his fam- <br />ily. The pictures showedl'and.scaped rock formations for young- <br />stersc1imbing, viewing and fortress use; a small zoo which child- <br />ren could enter compounds of-mostly farm type animals -.goats, <br />sheep, etc. - some birds and other animals, including monkeys: <br />he told that various service club organizations sponsor each <br />animal and its upkeep and that there is a nominal admission fee <br />of 25Ç for children and 50ç for adults: and suggested that the <br />proposed C'anyon Park could be considered-for this type of park. <br /> <br />#5 - NOMINATING COMMITTEE REPORT - James Knecht. Mr. Knecht was <br />. not present due to illness and unable to be contacted by telephone <br />during a 5 minute recess. Chairman Beals asked that before the <br />next meeting that the committee submit their nominations to the <br />~embers of the commission so that the new officers can be elected <br />and take over at the April meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />#6 - RENAMING OF CHESTNUT PARK -.Cqntinued to the April meeting <br />due to the absence of Doris Thompson (on account of the death of <br />her father).
