Chairman Whitmore told of visits to Coronado¡ Point Lorna; <br />, <br />Balboa Park: Mission Bay yacht 'club: Rancho Bernardo - swimming <br />pool and beautiful playground equipment, 2 l8-hole golf courses! <br />all within city limits of San Diego, almost all contributed by a <br />private developer¡ and of talks that included urging to provide m <br />more recreation for the disadvantaged and give them responsibility; <br />people using facilities should help pay for themi that State doing <br />lot to acquire land and utilizing such shore lands as Oroville <br />Dam and freeway lands (under sections, etc.) and that money had <br />been saved by good planning of projects I.e. use of dirt from <br />valley waterway project for freeways in nearby areas.(* see below) <br /> <br />Commissioner Williams: visited Sea World and noted that landscap- <br />ing was outstanding; told that San 'Diego community center concourse <br />was outstanding - includes all downtown municipal and other off- <br />ices within walking distance of hotels; had attended meeting on <br />finances - including school financing and realistic approach to <br />capital fund approaches: and proved for commission files: liGen-" <br />eral Outline Capital Fund Campaign" by Earl B.
