Contractor will take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are <br /> <br />employed and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, color, religion, <br /> <br />sex or national origin. <br /> <br />Such action shall include, but not be limited to, the following: employment, <br /> <br />upgrading, demotion, or transfer, recruitment or recruitment advertising; layoff or termination; rates of pay <br /> <br />or other forms of compensation; and selection for training, including apprenticeship. <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />SECTION 3 OF THE HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1986. Contractor <br /> <br />hereby agrees that it will comply with the provisions of Section 3, the regulations set forth in 24 CFR <br /> <br />(Code of Federal Regulations) part 135 and all applicable rules and orders of the U.S. Department of <br /> <br />Housing and Urban Development; and that it will, to the greatest extent feasible, make available <br /> <br />opportunities for training and employment under this contract to lower income residents of Redwood City. <br /> <br />14. <br /> <br />NONDISCRIMINATION BASED ON DISABILITY. Contractor hereby agrees that it will <br /> <br />comply with the provisions of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the American with <br /> <br />Disabilities Act (ADA) providing equal access and reasonable accommodations in employment programs <br /> <br />and services to persons who are disabled. <br /> <br />15. <br /> <br />INTEREST OF PUBLIC OFFICIALS. No members, officers, or employees or agents of the <br /> <br />City of Redwood City, no member of the City Council and no other public official who exercises any <br /> <br />function or responsibility with respect to this agreement or Contractor's Program during his or her tenure, <br /> <br />or for one year thereafter, shall have any interest, direct or indirect, in this contract or a related <br /> <br />subcontract, or the proceeds thereof. <br /> <br />Contractor shall incorporate in all subcontracts hereunder a <br /> <br />provision prohibiting such interest. <br /> <br />16. <br /> <br />LOBBYING PROHIBITING. Funds provided under this agreement shall not be used by <br /> <br />Contractor for publicity or propaganda purposes designed to support or defeat legislation pending before <br /> <br />federal, state, or local government. <br /> <br />17. <br /> <br />RELIGIOUS ACTIVITY PROHIBITED. There shall be no religious worship, instruction or <br /> <br />proselytizing as apart of, or in connection with the performance of this agreement. <br /> <br />5 <br />
