<br />EXHIBIT A <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />HEALTHY START FAMILY CENTER <br />FISCAL YEAR 1998/99 <br /> <br />CONTRACT OBJECTIVES <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Provide family-centered, school-linked services to families in the Friendly Acres-East Bayshore <br />neighborhood that assist families in becoming self sufficient in meeting their basic needs and <br />addressing their social, emotional and physical wellbeing. There are 7 programs based upon this <br />goal: <br /> <br />A. Provide family support services including family therapy, case management, groupwork, and <br />crisis intervention to 50 families. <br /> <br />B. Provide school-based student support groups to assist children in dealing with social, <br />emotional, and family conflicts to 224 students. <br /> <br />C. To provide drop-in information and referral services to 25 families per week. <br /> <br />D. Provide classroom-based classes that assist kinder students in "emotional literacy" -the ability <br />to identify and appropriately verbalize feelings and get their needs met to 120 students. <br /> <br />E. To provide "caregiver support groups" that give parents/caregiver support and education in <br />positive parenting, stress management, self esteem, how to create support systems, and how <br />to access community resources to 30 parents. <br /> <br />F. Provide financial/medical benefits to 140 families. <br /> <br />G. To provide intensive child welfare services to 20 families struggling with child abuse and <br />neglect issues. <br />
