• A1114 EXHIBIT "A"
PACIFIC ATHLETIC CLUB
October 28, 1992
Sgt. Clay Stringer
Redwood City Police Dept.
1020 Middlefield Road
Redwood City, CA 94065
Dear Sgt. Stringer:
I am writing to inform you of the Pacific Athletic Club's intent to
hold a 5 km. run/walk event on the 22nd of November, 1992. the
event is to be called the First Annual P.A.C. Turkey Trot. The
Turkey Trot is a fund raiser for the San Mateo County Aids Program.
I have met with Officer Gilbert Granado to map out a preliminary
route (see enclosure) . We plan on starting the race a 9:00 a.m.
from the P.A.C. parking lot. Participants will travel down the
furthest right-hand lane of Redwood Shores Parkway for
approximately 1.2 miles. Runners/walkers will then turn right onto
Marlin Dr. , right again onto Martinique Dr. , and take the foot path
up onto the levy trail. The course will then head south on the
levy trail, looping back to the club via the trail skirting the
small pond located on the north side of the P.A.C. We anticipate
the course to be closed and clear by 10:15 a.m.
It is anticipated that close to 100 runner/walkers will participate
in the event. In addition, I expect to have at least 16 volunteers
manning two water stations and serving as course marshals. Lead
runners will be paced by an experienced cyclist riding an all-
terrain bike. I have contacted a barricade rental company to
supply traffic cones to mark the street section of the course. If
any Redwood City Police Officers are deemed necessary for course
control, the Pacific Athletic Club agrees to reimburse the City of
Redwood City for associated costs.
I have reviewed the permit/event requirements supplied by Officer
Guardino. I understand and agree to the responsibilities stated
therein. If you need further information or documentation please
feel free to contact me at 593-4900 x240. My race coordinator,
Jill Rytand is also available to answer any of your questions. She
may be reached at the same number.
I thank you for your time and look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
ruce Valentine, M.S. enclosure: 1
Fitness Director cc: G.
