Jurisdictions <br />that approve projects meeting these criteria and that are subsequently built could use the <br />funding to make roadway and other community improvements that make it more attractive and <br />convenient for walking and bicycle travel. <br /> <br /> Recommendation - b: Maintain the current Transit Oriented Development Program that <br /> provides incentives for housing developments. As a result of additional research, the definition <br /> of a qualifying development will be expanded from 1/4 mile to 1/3 mile of a rail station. $2.96 <br /> million of funding for this program expansion is available under the 2002 State Transportation <br /> Improvement Program (STIP).
