- Cz) 3- 0'~"~ Redwood City, December 14, 2001
Jan Wesolowski
908 Glennan Drive
Redwood City, CA 94061-1126

To the City Council of Redwood City:

I am writing to express my objection to and request that you prevent the
expansion by addition of a second story planned on the house located at 907
Pleasant Hill Road in Redwood City (Ref. the Planning and Redevelopment
DepaKment's Notice of Official Action File No. 124-01 ).

The house in question Is located at an elevation approximately 8-10 feet higher
than the elevation of my home. Despite of that, a standard 6-foot high fence,
which is also based substantially above the ground level of my home, was
sufficient to guarantee a desired privacy on my property. At the same time, the
fence and the house behind it, both located to the west of my home and as high
as they were, were causing some reduction of the afternoon sunlight on my
property but, to me and my family, it was still acceptable. These were essential
factors we considered when buying our current home.

About one year ago, Mr. Comito has replaced his fence with a new one,
approximately 2 feet taller. It resulted in a significant reduction of the afternoon
sunlight. At the time of its construction., I have contacted Mr. Comito and asked
him to reconsider the height of the fence. Mr. Comito refused. I have resigned
and did not undetake any further action.

Now, Mr. Comito plans on adding the second story to his house. This will raise its
roof about 9 feet above the upper edge of the fence and open my entire backyard
and part of the interior of my home to the view from the second story windows.

This will result in:

(a) The complete loss of privacy in my backyard and a partial loss of privacy
in my home
(b) An almost complete loss of afternoon sunlight in both my backyard and
my home.

In turn, each of the above factors will have a substantial negative impact on the
value of my property. Therefore, I request that you prohibit the expansion
planned on the house In question.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Jan Wesolowski
