January 28, 2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - 2000-2001 Slurry Seal Project <br />Engineering File No. 806-02 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the 2000-2001 Slurry Seal Project, and authorize the release of Payment Bond <br />and retention. <br /> <br />Background <br />As part of the continuous Roadway Improvement Program, approximately 300,000 <br />square yards of roadway was resurfaced with slurry seal. <br /> <br />On June 25, 2001, the City Council awarded the construction contract for 2000-2001 <br />Slurry Seal Project to American Asphalt Repair and Resurfacing Co., Inc. of Hayward, <br />California, for their Iow bid of $ 400,551.12. <br /> <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the Plans and <br />Specifications for a total cost of $387,981.73. One change order was issued for a total <br />credit of ($12,569.39), which represents 3.1% of the original bid price. This change <br />order is for the adjustment of quantities. <br /> <br />Alternatives <br />Do not accept the 2000-2001 Slurry Seal Project, which would be contrary to prior <br />Council action. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />Funds in the amount of $1.2 million were appropriated in the 2000-2001 Capital <br />Improvement Program budget as part of the Gas Tax Construction and Transportation <br />(Measure "A") Funds for the Roadway Management System. <br /> <br />M.
