09/12/2005
14 days prior to said meeting and hearing together with a general explanation of the
matter to be considered; and
WHEREAS, upon consideration of the recommendation of the City Council
Revenue Subcommittee that said fees be adopted, and upon consideration of the
aforesaid fiscal data, this Council has determined that the proposed fees will not create
revenues in excess of the amount required to perform those services for which the fees
will be charged.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS:
1. New Buildings, Additions and Alterations to Existing Buildings An
applicant who proposes to construct a new building or to perform construction work in or
upon an existing building or structure which includes structural, plumbing, electrical and
mechanical work shall obtain a combination building permit prior to the commencement
of any such construction. No such permit shall be issued unless the applicant complies
with the provisions of the Contractors License Law and Labor Code Section 3800
regarding workers' compensation insurance certification.
After the payment of the plan review fee by the applicant and completion of the
plan review process, a permit fee corresponding to the fees for the combined
entitlements shall be paid to the Building Official by the applicant. Such fee shall be
submitted prior to the issuance of the combination permit for new buildings or structures
or for additions or alterations to buildings or structures. A building permit may be issued
for signs or for an alteration, repair or demolition of an existing building provided no
plumbing, mechanical or electrical work is to be done.
2. Plumbing, Electrical and Mechanical Work An applicant who proposes to
perform plumbing, electrical, or mechanical work only shall obtain a separate permit for
each such construction activity. No such permit shall be issued unless the applicant
complies with the provisions of the Contractors License Law and Labor Code Section
3800 regarding workers' compensation insurance certification.
3. Plan Review Fee The applicant shall pay a Plan Review Fee (when
required), a Fire, Plumbing, Engineering Plan Review Permit Fee, and a permit fee to
the Building Official for each required permit.
