<br />tax income for the previous year, with contributions made from COUNTY to CITY on a quarterly <br />basis; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the License Agreement calls for COUNTY and CITY to renegotiate the <br />COUNTY'S contribution to CITY for the operation of the Fair Oaks Library prior to the end ofFY <br />1999/2000; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the COUNTY and several cities within the County have entered into a Joint <br />Powers Agreement ("JP A") relating to library services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under the Library Joint Powers Agreement, the County Free Library System <br />is no longer governed by the COUNTY of San Mateo, but by the San Mateo County Library Joint <br />Powers Authority ("AUTHORITY"), and under the Library Joint Powers Agreement, the <br />AUTHORITY is to assume the costs of the County Free Library System as set forth therein; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Library Joint Powers AUTHORITY agrees to fully assume the COUNTY'S <br />prior obligation under the License Agreement to contribute to the operating costs of the Fair Oaks <br /> <br />Library; and the Library Joint Powers AUTHORITY and the CITY of Redwood City agree to <br />continue for the next two fiscal years the same method of determining the amount of the annual <br /> <br />contribution was utilized in paragraph 6 of Part III of the License Agreement; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the parties wish to relieve the COUNTY of any remaining obligation under the <br />License Agreement to pay any operating costs for the Fair Oaks Library; <br /> <br />II <br />1/ <br /> <br />II <br />II <br /> <br />// <br /> <br />-2- <br />
