<br />EXHIBIT 'A' <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br /> <br />The purpose of this scope of services is to provide the City of Redwood City (City) with <br />professional services related to the 2005 update of its Urban Water Management Plan <br />(UWMP). The services provided by Valerie J. Young, AICP (Consultant) will primarily be <br />focused on editing and compiling the UWMP, using the work products of various authors, <br />into the final document to be submitted to the Califomia State Department of Water <br />Resources (DWR). <br /> <br />The services consist of the tasks described below. All work will be performed remotely by <br />Consultant and via electronic transfer of files. Consultant will also use the City's document <br />storage space in the Redwood City Recycled Water Project portal, to allow for efficient <br />access to and review of documents. Some mailing of data/files via floppy disk or CD may <br />also be required. <br /> <br />Task 1: Document review <br /> <br />Consultant will review all relevant documents and materials related to the UWMP, including <br />but not limited to those identified in Public Works Services Department's List of Technical <br />Documents and Resources (8/26/2005). Consultant will also review DWR's Guidebook to <br />Assist Water Suppliers in the Preparation of a 2005 Urban Water Management Plan and the <br />associated DWR Review Sheets to ensure that the City's 2005 UWMP Update meets the <br />DWR criteria for content and completeness. <br /> <br />Task 2: Structure, format, writing assignments, production schedule <br /> <br />Consultant will develop an overall approach to the structure and format of the 2005 UWMP <br />Update in consultation with City staff. Consultant will prepare a draft Table of Contents and <br />format guide, including font style and size, headers/footers, paragraph design, use of figures <br />and tables, footnotes and references, appendices, and other format items. <br /> <br />Consultant will identify, in consultation with City staff, writing assignments for each of the <br />chapters and/or sub-sections of the UWMP. Authors may be City employees or other <br />consultants under separate contract to the City. Consultant may also be assigned writing <br />tasks, to be determined by the City. <br /> <br />Consultant will prepare a detailed production schedule that meets the DWR requirement to <br />submit the 2005 UWMP Update to DWR no later than December 31, 2005. The schedule <br />will identify specific tasks and milestone dates, intemal review periods, public review periods <br />and hearing dates, and the like. <br /> <br />The deliverables for this task, which are intended for distribution to the UWMP team, <br />include: 1) the draft Table of Contents, and 2) a technical memorandum comprised of the <br />approved format guide, writing assignments and responsibilities, and production schedule. <br /> <br />3 <br />
