Absent: Commissioners Diane Pound and <br />Reuben Haynes. <br /> <br />Staff present: Max C. Weeks, Director of Parks and Recreation, Pasco Balzarini, <br />Park Superintendent, Bill Paulson, Acting Recreation Director and Lee Halteman, <br />Secretary. <br /> <br />Also present: Mr. Harsha11 Blank, "823 Piedmont Way, who is interested in the Hetch <br />Hetchy development. <br /> <br />Mi~utes of February 7,1973 regular business meeting, on motion of Frank Guida, <br />seconded by Joanne Weintraub, were approved as mailed with the following correc- <br />tions: Page 3, Item 5(b), line 2, should read, "Planting by children of Temple <br />Beth Jacob, March 4 on the Thorn property", and, Round Table Discussion, line 2, ., <br />should begin with the word, "onll. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM 1. PRESENTATION CONCERNING STATUS OF STATE COLLEGE SITE - <br /> <br />~ -- v - ~ I/'\W'" LI r <br /> <br />MRS~ PHILLIPS~ C~I~EE ~EI: Mrs. Phillips of the Emerald Lake/Redwood City <br />Hillside General Plan, State CoLlege Site Subcommittee, had planned to attend the <br />Commission meeting but could not be present. Hr. Knecht presented her report and <br />said that this committee is concerned about the area and want to get motorcycles <br />out, keep people from dumping old cars and debris and get s~ome money for hiking <br />trails and rest rooms. She indicated the committee would like to make a presen- <br />tation to City Council to show possibilities at the site. A letter will be written <br />to the committee expressing the Commission's mutual concerns and studies; that the <br />Commission is interested in being made constantly aware of their work; and that the <br />Commission is the proper body to present their case to the City Council". <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM 2. He outlined some programs and pro- <br />posed objectives and referred to the "Goals for Redwood City" pamphlet which will <br />be dealt with in depth at the April retreat for City staff. Department goals and <br />City wide goals will be correlated. <br /> <br /> <br />Bill Paulson spoke regarding sub-programs - program elements, such as: community <br />leisure services, summer playgrounds, elementary school and summer school programs, <br />drama workshop, outdoor camping areas, City wide special events, aquatics swimming <br />instruction, adult basketball and football leagues. <br /> <br />Mr. We~ks said staff was projecting' five-year goals and establishing programs which <br />will be an aid at budget time in the future. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM 3. Beginning in April, m~et.ings <br />will be held the second Wednesday of each month.
