Those absent: Commissioner Reuben Haynes. ~ls~~ present: Mrs. Marshall Blank, 823 Piedmont Way, Redwood City Mr. Weeks introduced his new secretary, Cheryl Pellicano, and the Commissioners welcomed her aboards. AGENDA ITEM 1. NOMINATION RECOMMENDATIONS .... . Y T L Commissioner Warren gave the report. The Committee unanimously recommended Larry Schenck as Chairman, Frank Guida as Vice-Chairman, and Diane Pound as Secretary. A motion was made by Commissioner Warren to accept the Nomination Committee's recommend- ations for the 1973-74 year; seconded by Frank Guida. Commissioner Guida suggested each office should be voted upon separately rather than a slate ballot. Several members agreed. The Chair will entertain the idea. Chairman Schenck asked if there were any other nominations from the floor. Since there were none, it was moved by Chairman Schenck, seconded by Commissioner Guida, to declare the nominations closed. Motion carred. AGENDA ITEM 2. ELECTION OF OFFICERS .. ..- The Commission voted unan~ously to reelect Commissioner Schenck as Chairman, to elect Commissioner Guida as Vice~Chairman, and to elect Commissioner Pound as Secretary. AGENDA ITEM 3. REVIEW & DISCUSSION OF JOINT CITY COUNCIL-COMMITTEE MEETING I Ll Each Commissioner commented on the Joint City Council-Committee Meeting held Saturday, May 5,1973. The majority of the Commissioners were pleased to have the opportunity to interact with the Council and other Commissioners and to become acquainted ,further with each other. Most of the Commissioners felt these meetings should be held more often and that they should also meet 'with each Commission individually. It was felt that closer attention must be paid to prepare more formalized recommendations to the City Council regarding issues' on which the .Commission is acting. Additionally, when guidance is requested from the Council, the Commission should make formal requests for this guidance on specific issues. Commissioner Guida suggested the Commission formalize their goals and objectives and communicate them to the Commissioners and the City Council. Commissioner Schenck stated he would like to send a personal invitation to the Council- men to meet with the Commission in August. He hoped the majority would attend. It was moved by Commissioner Guida to send a letter to the Council thanking them for the opportunity to meet with them, stating that the preceding meeting was quite fruit- ful, and inviting them to another meeting August 18,1973.
