They are also stressing portable
fencing on the Forty-Niner field. Relocation of McGarvey Field will be nec~ssary so
that the tennis courts can be enlarged along with adding handball courts and multi-
purpose courts. The field will also be renovated at that time along with all the ball
fields. The caboose area will be newly designed and a spa-pool and play area will be
added as well as lighting. A group picnic area will be included. The restroom areas
will be redesigned into multi-purpose structures including concession booth and park
storage area and restrooms. Lighting will be added throughout the park. Also a shel-
ter will be considered for the bocci ball courts which will protect courts and players
but will not be elaborately enclosed. It was also felt that a lagoon as proposed in
the master plan would be an asset to the park. Projects will be accomplished in their
order of priority as funds permit.

The placement of the Red Morton Memorial has not been definitely decided as yet. The
Committee wanted to keep in mind the balance of the park. The entire park will be
named "Red Morton Memorial Park" and they do not want to fJesignate only one area'~~òf
the park as the memorial. Chairman Schenck mentioned that the donators to the memorial
were expecting an attractive and impressive memorial. It was alto suggested that the
memorial be placed near the ball diamonds since that was Red Morton's favorite sport.
Further study will be necessary.

Commissioner Guida made a motion to accept the Community Park Committee report, second-
ed by Commissioner Pound.

Ayes:

Commissioners Guida, Haynes, Knecht, Pound, Rollins,
Schenck and Weintraub

Nays:

None

Motion carried.

2.

Palm Neighborhood Park Acquisition - Committee and Staff

Committee Chairman Knecht reported that it may become necessary for homes to be purchased
in the area in order to develop this park to the fullest and this would probably create
problems as well as increase costs.
