Some questions were raised by the Commission <br />relative to the service provided by County Transit in other county <br />jurisdictions. Director Griffiths will contact the transit agency to <br />discuss the problem. <br /> <br />Attached to the minutes is a short report about the accessible recr~at;on <br />program prepared by Ms. Tul;oc. <br /> <br />ITEM II - MID-YEAR BUDGET DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Director Griffiths announced to the Commission that the City Council will <br />hold the mid-year budget hearing on Saturday, March 3,1990 from 9:00 a.m. <br />to 4:00 p.m. at the Main Library Conference Room. Director Griffiths <br />discussed the departmental budget goals and objectives and exceptions/ <br />issues portion of the submittal. <br /> <br />ITEM III - CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT BUDGET <br /> <br />The Commission received a copy of the five (5) year Capital Improvement <br />Budget that was prepared by the Community Development Department. <br />Discussion centered around the development of the Redwood Shores parks. <br />Director Griffiths emphasized that the proposed parks for the Redwood <br />Shores area will require additional manpower, equipment and supplies in <br />order to be maintained at the same standard of the existing parks. In the <br />event funds are not allocated for maintenance, Director Griffiths' indicated <br />that it would be his recommendation not to build the'facilities. The <br />proposed park development would be discussed, at the City Council budget. <br />hearings on Saturday, March 3, 1990. <br /> <br />- -- <br /> <br />ITEM IV - MARLIN PARK PARCOURSE <br /> <br />Commissioner Slusser discussed the history and development of the exercise <br />parcourse located at Marlin Park and adjacent property owned by First City <br />Land Development Corporation. The parcourse is very deteriorated and has <br />been vandalized over the years. Commissioner Slusser will place an ad in <br />the Redwood Shores Pilot Magazine to determine if the community is <br />interested in replacing the parcourse or simply removing the course. <br /> <br />Matters of Commission Interest <br /> <br />Commission Chairperson Howard encouraged all commissioners to submit the <br />petition sheets for the alcohol initiative. <br /> <br />Monthly Reports <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope commented on how nice Stafford Park looks after last <br />fall's renovation effort. Laurie Duncan Parkway was also in excellent <br />shape. <br /> <br />Commissioner Chairperson Howard indicated she has been attending the <br />Consortium of School Age Children meeting as a representative of the Park <br />and Recreation Commission. <br /> <br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />
