Commissioner Mortensen seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed with 6-0 votes. <br /> <br />ITEM III - 4th OF JULY PARADE <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope will contact Thompson Toyota relative to using the fire <br />truck in the 4th of July Parade and file the necessary parade entry <br />application with the Peninsula Celebration Association. Commissioners <br />Nordness and Davis will recruit volunteers from various 'community groups to <br />ride on the fire truck. <br /> <br />ITEM IV - CITY ATTORNEY'S MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />The Commission reviewed the memorandum from the City Attorney relative to <br />Director Griffith1s memo to the City Attorney on Roundtable Discussions. <br />Essentially the memo reaffirmed previous discussion that the staff and <br />commissioners have had on taking action on items that haven1t been <br />adequately noticed on the agenda. <br /> <br />Matters of Commission Interest <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis complimented the park maintenance staff on the condition <br />of Garrett Memorial Park and Dove Beeger Parkway. Commissioner Davis would <br />like to discuss the issue of IIMemorial Trees" on the April Agenda. <br /> <br />- . <br /> <br />Commissioner Nordness complimented the staff on the installation of the new <br />park equipment at Fleishman Park and discussed his attendance at the <br />C.P.R.S. Conference in San Diego. He was partially impressed with the <br />presentation given by W. P. Mott as well as a session he attended on <br />Developing Recreation Sites On School District Property. . <br /> <br />Commission Chairperson Howard also discussed her attendance at the CPRS <br />Conference in San Diego and her attendance at several sessions given by <br />motivational speaker Les Brown and one session on IIPark and Recreation <br />Commissioners". <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope shared with the Commission the activities of the Union <br />Cemetery Committee and announced that there would be a city sponsored <br />clean-up of the cemetery on April 28th from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Lunch <br />would be served. Additionally Mr. Fontana, a retired stone mason, has <br />volunteered his services to review the grav~stones and report back to the <br />Committee as to which ones are too fragile for rubbing purposes. Helen <br />Graves, one of the committee members. is going to look into purchasing some <br />graffiti removal solvent so that they can be cleaned prior to Memorial Day <br /> <br />. <br />serVlces. <br /> <br />Commissioner Slusser requested that the parcourse at Redwood Shores be <br />placed on the agenda for the April meeting and that the basketball hoop at <br />Marlin Park needs to be replaced. Director Griffiths will submit the <br />necessary work request. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 10:18 p.m. to be reconvened on Wednesday, <br />April 25, 1990 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Activities Building, 1400 <br />Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br /> <br />
