<br />... <br /> <br />, - <br />, .. <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />Director Griffiths said he would contact Corinne Centeno about a possible <br />meeting between the two groups. <br /> <br />Director Griffiths mentioned that the Annual Park Tour and Study Session with <br />the City Council could be held either September 14 or 21. Notices have been <br />sent out to the City Council to determine their date of preference. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />-Chairperson Nordness mentioned there will be a fund raiser held on May 29 <br />for the Sister City Program to raise funds to pay for the lodging and meals <br />of the delegation from Zhuhai. The nine person delegation will be in Redwood <br />City from June 12-16 and will visit local schools, hospitals, sports events, <br />local businesses and possible a tour of the Senior Center. <br /> <br />MONTHLY REPORTS <br /> <br />-Commissioner Mortensen said he was concerned about Luis Hernandez's report <br />regarding the soccer teams I use of the ball field and wanted to know if the <br />soccer teams could be contacted regarding the proper use of the fields. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope liked Jan Knight1s report on IILunch with the Bunnyll <br />and the fact that this was a intergenerational event. She felt that the <br />senior volunteers deserved some recognition and a thank you for their <br />efforts. Commissioner Howard also agreed with those comments. <br /> <br />MATTERS OF COMMISSION INTEREST <br /> <br />-Chairperson Nordness mentioned that the Summer Recreation Brochure had a <br />different format and wondered why the listing of the Commission members was <br />no longer in the brochure. He also mentioned that the department received <br />the requested 80% water allocation (20% reduction). He also inquired if <br />Erlînda Tulioc had viewed the video on softball programs for handicapped. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope said that there will be a Memorial Day ceremony held on <br />Monday, May 27 at lOam at Union Cemetery. Chairperson Nordness will be the <br />master of ceremonies at the event and Commissioner Howard will set off the <br />cannon. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope also mentioned that she attended the 20th Anniversary <br />Reception of the Civic Cultural Commission on May 19 at the Veterans Senior <br />Center. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard said she was interested in the opening day ceremonies of <br />Little League and would like to be notified when they were going to be held. <br />She also wanted to thank Ramon Aguilar and Jan Knight for their assistance on <br />the Dogs in the Parks Committee. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Mortensen said there will be an ASA Slow Pitch IICU National <br />Qualifier held on June 8-9. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Nordness said that due to logistics problems he has been <br />unable to visit Fair Oaks Community Center to perform his monthly park and <br />facility inspection and asked if any of the Commissioners could trade <br />assignments. Commissioner Howard indicated she would help out if necessary. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was adjourned at <br />9:35pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, June 26 at the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />
