<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS/MONTHLY REPORTS/MATTERS OF COMMISSION INTEREST <br /> <br />-Chairperson Nordness suggested that Assistant Recreation Center Supervisor <br />Mike Blondino make a presentation to the Commission regarding his program. <br />Commissioner Slusser suggested that every 4th month a presentation be made by <br />one of the department supervisors to bring the Commission up-to-date on the <br />activities in their particular area. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Slusser noted that in Julie Hannon's July monthly report that <br />the park program at Shorebird had a very low attendance and wondered what <br />course of action was going to be taken to correct this situation. He also <br />noted the use of wood chips at Marlin Park. Commissioner Slusser said that <br />Erlinda Tulioc1s report indicated an increase in attendance and also program <br />limitations due to transportation. He also noticed a a broken sprinkler head <br />on the northside of Redwood Shores Parkway that needed repair. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli wondered if Erlinda Tulioc1s program could use <br />SamTrans as a means of transportation. She said that she attended the <br />very successful Families Arts Dayan July 20 which was sponsored by the Civic <br />Cultural Commission. She also attended the music concert program on July 23 <br />at Red Morton Park also sponsored by the Civic Cultural Commission and noted <br />it was a good program and had approximately 300 people in attendance. <br />Commissioner Truscelli also attended the Project Read BBQ held at Red Morton <br />on August 17. She mentioned that a flea market will be held on Monday. <br />September 2 at Red Morton Park and will be sponsored by the Veterans Memorial <br />Senior Center. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Davis suggested that a map of city parks be included in the <br />citywide recreation brochure. Commissioner Howard suggested increasing the <br />size of of recreation brochure by 8 pages in order to include additional <br />information such as a map of parks in the city. Commissioner Slusser will <br />bring up this subject at the joint study session with the City Council. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard mentioned that Red Ribbon Week ;s October 19-26. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Nordness asked Jan Knight about the cost of bus transportation <br />she mentioned in her July monthly report. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Mortensen mentioned that his softball team (The Shorebirds) <br />won the Shaunnesey playoffs, won the IICU Division 2nd half C-3, plus took 2nd <br />in the City Tournament of Champions-liCu Division. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned at <br />9:05pm to be reconvened on Saturday, September 21,1991 for the joint study <br />session and park tour with the City Council to be held at the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue.
