Due to
increased usage this year. he was able to gain the use of Sequoia and
Woodside High School fields.

Recreation Supervisor Wooten explained that our fields are kept open until
Washington's Birthday each year and then are closed for approximately one
month for renovation. The fields are then re-opened in mid-March or early
April. He stressed that the biggest problem regarding field usage is
unorganized adult soccer groups who have a total disregard of our facilities
and do not honor previously arranged field assignments. This year when the
fields were closed for renovation. they were re-seeded and cones put around
the seeded areas to protect them from use. An adult soccer group disregarded
the cones and totally destroyed the fields just as the seed was coming up.
The Park crew was forced to cut out these damaged areas and install 2,500
square feet of sod in order to have the fields ready before the start of
softball season. Supervisor Wooten wrote a letter to Club Unitas regarding
practicing on unauthorized fields and hopefully this will resolve this
problem.

Park Supervisor Luis Hernandez explained his Parks crew begins the annual
renovation of the Redwood City School District playing fields in late
February. and it takes 3-4 full time crew members working 3-4 weeks to bring
