Commissioner Slusser reported that Sony and Panasonic also turned <br />down our grant requests because of the need for an I.R.S. 501 C3 status <br />d esigna lion. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - DISCUSSION AND APPROVAL OF FY95-96 WORKPLAN <br /> <br />The Commissioners reviewed the final draft of the FY95-96 Commission <br />Workplan and Chairperson Swope spoke about her presentation of the <br />Workplan at the October 2 City Council meeting. <br /> <br />MIS Morton I Truscelli: To approve the FY95-96 Commission Workplan. <br /> <br />Supervisor Hannon noted that Assistant Recreation Center Supervisor <br />Adilah Haqq-Smith will also be making a presentation concerning the Teen <br />Advisory Council at the same meeting. <br /> <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope noted she would like the support of the entire <br />Commission at the October 2 meeting and asked all of the Commissioners to <br />attend the meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - RED MORTON CENTER FACILITY FEE DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis reported the Fee Policy Structure Committee met to <br />review the proposed facility fees for the new Red Morton Center and <br />discussed that fact that there are no existing guidelines on facility fee charges. <br />He said the Center's budget is based on the facility fees determined by staff for <br />the period of January-June 1996. He said he was inclined to go along with <br />staffs recommendation for the first six months the Center is open, and to <br />re-evaluate and if necessary, change the fee policy for FY96-97. Supervisor <br />Hannon said she needs to publish the Winter Recreation Brochure very soon <br />and would need the necessary facility fee charges as soon as possible to <br />include in the brochure. <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed the current resident fees and non-resident fees <br />and the public's reaction to those fees. Commissioner Davis felt that our fees <br />should not be commensurate with other commercial entities in Redwood <br />City, such as Gold's Gym, because this is a public facility. Chairperson Swope <br />felt the fees collected should be enough to cover the cost of the program. <br />Supervisor Hannon said it is difficult to compare the new Red Morton with <br />any community center in the area because no other City offers the same <br />variety of activities that we do, and as a result, it is hard to exactly determine <br />the fees to be charged for our activities. <br /> <br />
