<br />Park & Recreation Commispion <br />Minutes of March 26, 1997 <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />ITEM I-REPORT ON RED MORTON CENTER ANNIVERSARY <br />CELEBRATION AND TAPESTRY DEDICATION <br /> <br />Chairperson Truscelli reported on the successful anniversary celebration and <br />tapestry dedication and also thanked Commissioner Swope for her work on <br />the program. Commissioner Swope complimented staff on the event and <br />provided staff with pictures of the event. Commissioner Davis suggested <br />having a picture of the tapestry on the next cover of the City roster. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - REPORT ON CPRS CONFERENCE <br /> <br />The CPRS award that was received for the design of the Red Morton Center <br />was on display. Superintendent Hover spoke about the conference and how <br />the Red Morton Center was featured in the opening ceremonies. The <br />Commissioners were given a copy of the California Association of <br />Commissioners and Board Members (CAPRCBM) brochure and training <br />workshop informa non. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - PLANS FOR CITY COUNCIL PARK TOUR-MAY 17, 1997 <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis reviewed the proposed agenda for the park tour which <br />included visits to Red Morton Park, Hoover Park and the Sandpiper Park. <br />Superintendent Hover will have staff review the proposed agenda for their <br />suggestions and comments. Commissioner Hughes offered to host a lunch at <br />her home following the park tour. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - IMPLEMENTATION OF FY96-97 WORKPLAN GOALS <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis reviewed a "Park Facility Inventory" form he <br />developed which could be used to help increase utilization of our park <br />facilities. He asked the Commissioners to review the form and make <br />comments. He ,also noted that Commissioner Nordness contact the School <br />District and is obtaining a similar inventory form from them. Commissioner <br />Slusser suggested updating the Department's current park listing form. <br /> <br />Commissioner Slusser suggested a storyboard be developed listing all <br />Redwood City parks and facilities as part of the Commissions' promotion of <br />activities. He also agreed to secure a booth at the 4th of July festival for the <br />Commission's use. Commissioner Swope suggested a contest be developed <br />using pictures of different parks / facilities and people would try to identify <br />their locations. Commissioner Slusser and Swope agreed to work on this <br />idea. <br /> <br />
