<br />,~ <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission f <br />f <br />Minutes of January 27, 1999 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />r <br /> <br />-Alcohol in Parks <br />Commissioner Slusser asked that this issue be deferred until further information <br />can be gathered and that we should contact community members who brought <br />this matter to the Commission in the first place to see if this meets with their <br />needs. Commissioner Joseph asked if this was a problem at specific parks. <br />Commissioner Davis said he remembered three instances of concern; behind the <br />Community Activities Building, soccer at Kennedy and at one of the softball <br />fields. He felt the Commission could do a better job than what the City Attorney's <br />Office had presented. Commissioner Slusser request information from the <br />Attorney's Office to see what more the Commission could do. Superintendent <br />Hover said that staff will do the research and find out the history of this issue and <br />prepare a report for the March agenda. <br /> <br />ITEM 4. UPDATES <br /> <br />-Shore Dogs Park <br />Superintendent Hover announced the park had its grand opening on December <br />12, then closed and re-opened on January 16. Due to the extremely wet soil, the <br />park may be closed again until the turf has had time to dry out. <br /> <br />.School Fields Project <br />Superintendent Hover announced a consultant has tentatively been selected for <br />the project. Details of the financing of the project is currently being worked out. <br /> <br />-Sandpiper Grand Opening <br />The grand opening of Sandpiper was held on December 12 and was lightly <br />attended. <br /> <br />-Sequoia High School Pool <br />Superintendent Hover stated a report is being prepared by Manager Chris Beth <br />on this matter. The Commissioners discussed of having an agreement that was <br />equitable and the need to clarify in great detail who has what use of the facility. <br />Superintendent Hover said there could be benefits to the project but it will have <br />to meet the needs of the City. This matter will be brought back to the <br />Commission for further discussion. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />There were no announcements. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned at <br />8:44pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, February 24, 1999 to be <br />held at the Red Morton Center, 1120 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br />California. <br /> <br />
