Proposed authorization to negotiate acquisition of Pacific Gas and Electric Company street lighting facilities Report of City Manager and Director of Public Works 11/8/82 Director of Public Works Addiego used slides of figures related to projected savings, costs for acquisition and conversion~ and a funding service with regard to the street lighting system. Mr. Addiego commented and replied to questions regarding details of his report. Approval of plans and call for bids for Fair Oaks Community Center Play Area Report of City Manager and Human Services Coordinator 11/12/82 Human Services Coordinator Irizarry commented and replied to questions relating to the plans for the Fair Oaks Community Center Play Area, stating that the Fair Oaks Advisory Board has seen and approved the plans and that the State requires base improvements now~ with significant landscaping work to be accomplisheâ later when funds may be available. Approval of specifications - refurbishing portion of City Hall Report of City Manager and Director of General Services 11/17/82 Discussion followed and City Manager Smith and Director of General Services Mott replied to questions concerning the plans for refurbishing certain areas of City Hall; the safety nature of some of the work; the possibility of employing a designer to make suggestions and prepare the bid document; the condition of City Hall and its effect on employee morale; and the possibility of preparing the bid document on an alternate item basis. Nita Spangler~ 970 Edgewood Drive~ said she would like to submit the City Hall for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Buildings and believes it is eligible since it is more than 40 years old and is a good example of its type. Mrs. Spangler said that employees working in the building should be entitled to a building in good condition with modern functional facilities and endorsed the suggestion that a good designer be employed to prepare plans and the bid document, suggesting it would be the least expensive approach in the long run. CONSENSUS: Mayor Stangel determined that it is the consensus of Council to return the subject item to staff for reconsideration and an improved bid document indicating alternatives.
