Commissioner Howard asked <br />if we were still planning a dedication for the recently approved <br />Shorebird Park at Island Dr. and Marine Parkway. Director Griffiths <br />said early fall would probably be a good time. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - PARK RANGER UPDATE <br /> <br />Director Griffiths said background checks were being conducted on two <br />candidates and just today one of the two had phoned to say they were <br />no longer interested. We are still awaiting the outcome of the <br />investigation from the one remaining candidate. <br /> <br />ITEM 6 - YOUTH COUNCIL <br /> <br />Representatives of agencies serving Redwood City's youth have met to <br />discuss new and emerging needs of today's youth. This group is <br />looking for the support and/or participation of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission and will make a presentation at the August <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Monthl1: ~~ports <br />The monthly reports were approved as submitted. <br /> <br />Roundtable <br /> <br />r <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed their park assignments. Commissioner <br />Mortensen said September 12,13,19 or 20 would be good dates for a <br />Commission/Council Volleyball game and that he would check with Mayor <br />Claire to arr i ve at a convenient date for alJ.. He will advise us at <br />the August meeting. <br /> <br />Director Griffiths had maps of three of the department's capital <br />improvement projects on the wall. He showed the approved plan for <br />the Veterans Memorial parking lot, noting they would have 75 spaces, <br />however, the net increase is 43 spaces. <br /> <br />The preliminary plans for the TEWCI/FOCC senior addition were briefly <br />discussed. Director Griffiths said the issue of whether the addition <br />should be attached or detached was still unresolved. <br /> <br />The Union Cemetery plans are not yet complete. The landscape <br />architect is awaiting information from Ca1Trans regarding the <br />Woodside Rd. entrance. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m. to be reconvened August 12,1987 <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt <br />Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />1f/eca.p.r.7.8 <br /> <br />
