Scudder, the representative from ~hevron tTSA did not appear for <br />the requested appeal, of the heritage tree permit application for <br />1502 El Camino Real and Vera Street. <br /> <br />Director Griffiths briefly reviewed the situation, explaining that <br />Chevron USA had requested permission to remove three (3) mature <br />Redwood trees which the Forestry Division denied. The parcel, had <br />been leased from H.A. Davies and returning the property to its <br />original state was conditional of termination of the J_ease agreement. <br />Director Griffiths said the City Attorney's office had advised him <br />that Davies could not enforce an i1,lega], act (removaJ. of heri.tage <br />trees). He exp1.ained to Mr. Scudder of Chevron that it i.n fact was a <br />matter to be discussed with Chevron's legal staff and Mr. Davies. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - CPRS CONFERENCE <br /> <br />Chairman Buchan and Vice-chairman Swope both said thev hañ an <br />educational, and interesting time. The two (2) seminars Commissioner <br />Swope conducted were both very wel.l attended. In another session on <br />"Quality of Working TJife" Director Griffiths won a publ..;-cation <br />entitled "Quality Circles Programs". Commjss.ioners Buchan and Swope <br />were also in attendance at this program. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - 49ER FACILITY COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Chairman Buchan reported that after discussion with Mayor Claire, it <br />was decided to postpone the first meeting until the end of April. <br />after City Council elections. <br /> <br />Monthly Reports <br /> <br />The Department's staff monthly reports were distributed to the <br />Commission at the beginning of the meetlng and will be discussed at <br />the April meeting. <br /> <br />Roundtable <br /> <br />In response to the letter from the NFL Alumni Association, <br />Commissioners Nordness and Mortensen both felt the organization was <br />worthwhile and should be considered for use of the Pol.ice Youth Club <br />Building. <br /> <br />Commissioner Weiss said he has seen the new entrance ga te at Stul,saft <br />Park and is very pleased with the new look. He also mentioned there <br />is a residence on Goodwin which has constructed a fence intrudinq <br />into the park approximately 10 feet. Director Griffiths sai,d he <br />would have staff look into it. <br /> <br />Comm,; ssfoner Howard said there was a hole in the fence at Hawes Park <br />on the north side of the field. <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope said Dove Beeger Park looked great except the <br />ordinance sign was badly vandalized and should be repl,aced. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />'""..,°, <br /> <br />',' .. <br /> <br />'~",~',:, ' <br />
