<br />... <br />, <br /> <br />r ... <br />. .. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12,1988 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Chairman Swope, Vice-chairman Weiss, <br />Commissioners Anderson, Howard, Mortensen, <br />Nordness and Slusser <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Chief Executive Officer Mike Taylor, <br />Spelthorne Borough, Great Britain, City <br />Councilwoman Judy Buchan, Bill and Dee Dee <br />Anderson and Tess, 1619 Kentfield Avenue, <br />Redwood City <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager Jean, Parks, <br />Recreation and Community Services Director <br />Griffiths, Recreation Center Supervisor <br />Knight and Secretary Frei <br /> <br />, , <br /> <br />Chairman Swope called the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation <br />Commission to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Activities <br />Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. Mike <br />Taylor, Chief Executive Officer from Spelthorne Borough, Great <br />Britain was introduced to the Commission by Assistant City Manager <br />Bob Jean. Mr. Taylor explained his Borough consisted of 90,000 <br />people and considered open space and recreation a very important <br />aspect of their lifestyles. <br /> <br />Corres]?ondence <br /> <br />A memorandum regarding the next meeting of the PYC Committee was <br />sent out today. It was mailed to prospective building users and <br />requested that each group present their proposals at the October 26, <br />1988 meeting. <br /> <br />Committees <br /> <br />r 1 <br /> <br />Rosselli Committee - Commissioner Mortensen explained the status of <br />the naming request for the park adjacent to the new library. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />MIS MortensenlNordness to endorse the recommendation of the <br />Library Board to name the landscaped area adjacent to the <br />new Library "The Rosselli Memorial Garden." <br /> <br />Motion unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Stulsaft Committee - Vice-chairman Weiss reviewed the plan for this <br />Saturday's Stulsaft Clean-up. Each Commissioner will be assigned a <br />section and people will be divided into these groups. A rough <br />estimate of how many people to expect was arrived at. <br /> <br />
