PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12,1988 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairman Swope, Vice-chairman Weiss, Commissioners Anderson, Howard, Mortensen, Nordness and Slusser COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None GUESTS PRESENT: Chief Executive Officer Mike Taylor, Spelthorne Borough, Great Britain, City Councilwoman Judy Buchan, Bill and Dee Dee Anderson and Tess, 1619 Kentfield Avenue, Redwood City STAFF PRESENT: Assistant City Manager Jean, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Griffiths, Recreation Center Supervisor Knight and Secretary Frei , , Chairman Swope called the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. Mike Taylor, Chief Executive Officer from Spelthorne Borough, Great Britain was introduced to the Commission by Assistant City Manager Bob Jean. Mr. Taylor explained his Borough consisted of 90,000 people and considered open space and recreation a very important aspect of their lifestyles. Corres]?ondence A memorandum regarding the next meeting of the PYC Committee was sent out today. It was mailed to prospective building users and requested that each group present their proposals at the October 26, 1988 meeting. Committees r 1 Rosselli Committee - Commissioner Mortensen explained the status of the naming request for the park adjacent to the new library. MOTION: MIS MortensenlNordness to endorse the recommendation of the Library Board to name the landscaped area adjacent to the new Library "The Rosselli Memorial Garden." Motion unanimously approved. Stulsaft Committee - Vice-chairman Weiss reviewed the plan for this Saturday's Stulsaft Clean-up. Each Commissioner will be assigned a section and people will be divided into these groups. A rough estimate of how many people to expect was arrived at.
