<br />." <br /> <br />-.. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Mr. Nessel asked Director Griffiths why Dickey Street was in fact a <br />dedicated city street even though it was located within a park. <br />Director Griffiths responded that this status allowed the California <br />Vehicle Code to be enforced on that street. Commissioner Mortensen <br />asked Mr. Nessel if he was in favor of additional lighting in the <br />area at some point in the future. Mr. Nessel said he would be in <br />favor of such a proposal. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />M/S Mortensen/Slusser to support the No Parking signs as <br />stipulated by the Traffic Division and to investigate the <br />long term possibility of additional lighting on Dickey <br />Street. <br /> <br />Motion approved unanimously. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - PYC COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Director Griffiths said the PYC/4ger Council Subcommittee had <br />reached the decision to lease the PYC Building to the NFL Alumni. <br />The Alumni will in turn sublease an office to AYSO, Pop Warner and <br />Little League. Chairman Swope expressed pleasure at the cooperative <br />spirit the groups involved displayed in arriving at this <br />arrangement. <br /> <br />Director Griffiths said a memo has been written to the City <br />Attorney's Office regarding the particulars of the agreement that <br />will have to be executed between all parties - lessors and <br />sublessors. He also explained that the Risk Management Department <br />advised that judo and boxing clubs would have to produce $5 million <br />in liability insurance coverage if the city were to allow such <br />usage. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - DECEMBER MEETING <br /> <br />The Commission discussed whether or not to meet in December in light <br />of the many holiday commitments. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />M/S Mortensen/Nordness to suspend the December 'meeting of <br />the Park and Recreation Commission, and attend the Parks, <br />Recreation and Community Services Department's annual <br />Christmas luncheon on December 16. <br /> <br />Motion approved unanimously. <br /> <br />Roundtable <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard explained that Mt. Carmel School has started a <br />new program call "Clean Up School Week". The purpose of this is to <br />instill in the children an awareness of their environment and <br />recognize their own responsibility in maintaining it. The school <br />hopes to evolve this program into a weekly program. Director <br />Griffiths suggested that Commissioner Howard talk with Councilwoman <br />LaBerge about attending the awards ceremony in early December. The <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is having <br />plaques made up for the award ceremony. <br />
