'i <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - COMMISSION VACANCY <br /> <br />The closing date for applications is February 24, 1989. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - 49ER BUILDING UPDATE <br /> <br />Mr. Vincent Truscelli reported that he is volunteering his time and <br />labor to remodel the first floor of the 4ger Building to help <br />minimize the costs. Partitions have been torn down and quite a bit <br />of clean up and painting has been accomplished. <br /> <br />Committee Reports <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />Monthly Reports <br /> <br />The Commission asked that staff be complimented on their informative <br />reports. <br /> <br />The Commission submitted their park inspection reports to staff. <br /> <br />Roundtable <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard said she had visited Sequoia High School <br />recently and was very disturbed about the litter allover the <br />campus. She sent a letter to Earl Walker, principal of Sequoia <br />High, explaining the clean up program that Mt. Carmel School had <br />successfully launched and suggesting that Sequoia might like to <br />initiate a similar program. To date she has received no response <br />from Mr. Walker. <br /> <br />'0,- <br /> <br />Commissioner Nordness inquired as to the status of the 4ger <br />synthetic turf bids. Ms. Hartman reported that there were three (3) <br />bids received and they were being evaluated. <br /> <br />Commissioner Mortensen announced that February 28,1989 was <br />designated as Alternative Transportation Day. Bay Area residents <br />are encouraged to use carpooling, bicycling, buses and other methods <br />of getting to work. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission adjourned <br />at 9:00 p.m. to be reconvened at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 1989 <br />at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood <br />City, California. <br /> <br />LF/pr.2.l4 <br />
