R E P R Ill' TO THE HONORABLE <br /> MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br /> PROM THE CITY MANAGER <br /> June 18, 1992 <br /> APPROVAL OF CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES <br /> (BRIAN-KANGAS-FOULK & ASSOCIATES) <br /> MODIFICATIONS TO WATER PUMPING AND STORAGE FACILITIES <br /> ENGINEERING FILE NO. 1204-01 <br /> Recommendation <br /> It is recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution approving and <br /> authorizing execution of an agreement for engineering services with <br /> Jrian-Kangas-Foulk and Associates, in an amount not to exceed $73,000. <br /> Background and Discussion <br /> Extensive development has taken place in the Emerald Lake Hills Area during the <br /> past five years. In connection with this development and the installation of <br /> millions of dollars in new water lines, a review of the existing pumping and <br /> storage was made. As a result of this review, projects were recommended and <br /> approved in the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) . <br /> The following list of CIP projects have been combined into this one design and <br /> construction project to facilitate implementation and achieve cost savings. <br /> 1. Water Pipeline Replacement Program (Oak view Vista Line) <br /> 2. Abandon Brewster Reservoir <br /> 3. California Reservoir Abandonment <br /> 4. Eliminate Bennett Booster Station <br /> 5. Wilmington Pressure Reducing Valve <br /> The total estimated cost of construction for this project is $455,000. <br /> Summary and Conclusion <br /> ry LLf having participated in a selection process with three firms, it is <br /> recommended that the firm of Brian-Kangas-Foulk and Associates provide engineering <br /> services for this project. Under this agreement, the consultant will prepare plans <br /> and specifications for competitive bidding for construction of the five projects <br /> listed above. <br />
