Commissioner Swope stated that during the renovation process of Stafford Park, staff took into consideration the comments and suggestions of the neighbors, and she felt that the Commission should again consider the comments of the neighbors and not approve the installation of additional BBQs in Stafford Park. The Commissioners discussed the reasons for installing the BBQs, the need to provide services to the community, and deferring the installation until the renovations of the other parks is completed. MIS Truscelli/LaBerge: To defer putting in three BBQs at Stafford Park until a later date. Commissioner Swope spoke in favor of listening to the requests of the neighbors and noted that when the park was planned, the neighbors did not ask for BBQs to be included in the renovation plans. Chairperson Davis felt that small BBQs yield small parties and that by eliminating BBQs, we are limiting an enjoyable activity for the community. Motion passed. (Yes-S Joseph, LaBerge, Morton, Truscelli, Walsh; No-2 Davis, Swope) The Commissioners noted that the neighbors will be advised if this matter . comes up again. ITEM 3 - UPDATE ON TREES IN REDWOOD SHORES Superintendent Hover spoke about the planned removal of infested trees at 504 Cringle Drive on October 10, 2000 which will be followed by stump removal and re-planting of new trees by the end of October. He also spoke about visiting Mr. Vedder at 485 Tiller Lane about the removal of his infested trees and stated that the trees will not be removed at this time. . - " Superintendent Mann spoke about the status of the wasp release program and problems that have occurred in the generation of the wasp. He said that we are expecting the wasp to be released in Redwood City in approximately 20 to 30 days, and that it will take 90 days after the release to see some results. Superintendent Mann stated that if we do not see results after 90 days, then the program will not be successful and we may see more trees removed due to infestation. :" ,~, ' P, ,~' , I.
