<br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of February 27, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Park Task Force is continuing to work on policies and procedures for the <br />facility. Fundraising projects include selling Fresh Choice coupon books, t- <br />shirts, bricks and tiles, Mel's Bowl Night, and a "Fresh Choice Night" on March <br />21 from 5:00-9:00pm where a portion of the profits will go towards this <br />project. The next meeting of the Skate Park Task Force will be on March 13 <br />at 7:00pm. <br /> <br />.Pets on Parade <br />Chairperson Joseph reported on the progress of the Pet Parade and working <br />with the Shore Dogs Group in organizing the event. She reported on the <br />many different community groups and sponsors who will be having booths at <br />the event; volunteers from the Teen and Youth Advisory Boards; free t- <br />shirts; pet judging contest with three winners from each category; <br />newspaper, TV and radio publicity; K-9 demonstrations; silent auction; and <br />photo booth. Chairperson Joseph stated that more volunteers are needed to <br />assist with the registration process. She announced the Pets on Parade <br />committee members will be making a presentation to City Council on <br />March 11. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - DISCUSSION OF A FACILITIES TOUR BY THE COMMISSION <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph suggested that newly appointed Commissioners be given <br />a tour of City facilities. The Commissioners discussed the matter and decided <br />to i nteg rate a faci I ity tou r into the mentori ng prog ra m. <br /> <br />ITEM 6 - DISCUSSION OF ALTERNATIVE MEETING LOCATIONS <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph spoke about having the Commission meetings in different <br />locations during the year. The Commissioners felt that would be advisable to <br />have a meeting at a particular location if there was a topic pertaining to that <br />geographical area of the City. Commissioner Swope felt it was important to <br />consistently have the Commission meetings at the same time, date and <br />location to eliminate confusion for the public. <br /> <br />ITEM 7 - DISCUSSION OF PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CALENDAR <br /> <br />Commissioner Walsh produced a 2002 Commission Calendar which was <br />distributed to the Commissioners. The Commissioners expressed their <br />appreciation to Commissioner Walsh for his work on this project. <br />Commissioner Truscelli suggested that the November 27 Commission <br />meeting be changed to Wednesday, November 20 due to Thanksgiving and <br />the rest of the Commission agreed with her suggestion. Chairperson Joseph <br />requested the Commissioners bring their 2002 Calendar to each Commission <br />meeting to update information. <br /> <br />
