<br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of August 28, 2002 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - DISCUSSION OF STUDY SESSION GOALS <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed how the- goals would help with their strategic <br />plan. Chairperson Joseph asked the Commissioners to make a list with their <br />top three priorities for next year. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - PET PARADE ORGANIZATIONAL PLAN <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph asked for a sub-committee to help organize the 2003 Pet <br />Parade. She will develop a list of things which need to be done in <br />preparation for the event and the matter wiU be discussed at the September <br />meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - UPDATES <br /> <br />-Hoover Field <br />Superintendent Hover announced the project is expected to be completed on <br />October 1 and the field will open around October 8. <br /> <br />"'Spinas Park <br />Superintendent Hover reported the committee will meet in September; the <br />drawings are 65% complete and include a water feature. <br /> <br />-Skate Park <br />Superintendent Beth reported on the progress of the skate park and that <br />Council approved the skate park ordinance last week. He reported that the <br />fundraising has raised $81000 with a goal of $20/000. The Skate Park Task <br />Force is still involved and continues to meet. <br /> <br />-New Commissioner Orientation <br />Chairperson Joseph thanked staff for providing the Commissioner Orientation <br />which preceded this evening's meeting. She and Vice Chairperson Walsh will <br />meet before the September Commission meeting for orientation with the new <br />Park and Recreation Commissioners. <br /> <br />-Interim Park Rules Task Force <br />Superintendent Hover spoke about the meeting of the sub-committee and <br />their recommendations. The sub-committee agreed to reconvene to discuss <br />the matter further and to come back to the September meeting with a list of <br />recommendations for the Commission's approval. <br /> <br />-Windmill Restoration <br />Chairperson Joseph announced that City Council has given $30,000 towards <br />this project as well as Adolph Rosencranz who has also donated $30,000. <br />She stated she will be meeting with Susan Moller who is the City/s new <br />Downtown Managerl and the possibility of having the windmill installed in the <br />d owntow n a rea, <br /> <br />~ <br />
