<br />. <br /> <br />~ . <br /> <br />r- I r ~ <br /> <br /> <br />( ,~ <br />. 4. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of January 28, 2004 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - DISCUSSION OF PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CALENDAR <br /> <br />Commissioner Joseph will be attending the CPRS Conference in March. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />-Commissioner Joseph stated she received a call from Beth Beach regarding <br />continuing issues with the Redwood Shores lagoons. Ms. Beach was unable <br />to attend this evening's meeting and asked Commissioner Joseph to pass <br />along her comments. Commissioner Swope noted that she spoke to Rosanne <br />Foust and advised her that she and Commissioner Joseph were available to <br />assist on the lagoon issue. It was mentioned that Robert Schmidt is the new <br />president of the Redwood Shores Community Association and Commissioner <br />Joseph agreed to contact Mr. Schmidt to advise him of the Commission's <br />interest in helping in this matter. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Joseph also noted that Ms. Beach asked about having <br />monthly music concerts at Mariner Park. Ms. Beach was referred to the Civic <br />Cultural Commission which is responsible for planning the summer concert <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />series. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope offered to train the Commission on parliamentary <br />procedure if they were interested. <br /> <br />-Director Centeno gave an update on the status of the City's budget and <br />initial FY04-05 deficit projections. Copies of the PowerPoint presentation will <br />be sent to the Commissioners in their next packet. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Morton thanked Chris Beth, Jordana Schneiderman, JoAnne <br />Sanchez and Patty Potter for hosting the City of Sunnyvale recreation staff on <br />the operation of our RecWare registration system. <br /> <br />-Superintendent Beth announced that our skate park was awarded the 2004 <br />Best Facility Award by CPRS. Department staff will accept the award at the <br />CPRS Conference in March. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli stated the Citizen of the Year Award ceremony will <br />be held on Saturday, February 28 at the American Legion. <br /> <br />ITEMS FOR NEXT MONTH'S AGENDA <br /> <br />- Strategic Plan, Picnic Reservation Policy, Youth Infusion presentation <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned <br />at 9:28pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2003 to <br />be held at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, <br />Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />, - <br /> <br /> <br />. ,'- <br />, -", " ' <br />, '-',' <br /> <br />, . -'--',,;};"'- - , <br /> <br />
