Park and Recreation Commîssion Minutes of August 24, 2005 Page 3 project will go out to bid in September and should be completed by March 2006. . -Sub-Committee Report on Art and Wine Festival Commissioner Joseph spoke about her progress on arranging artists for the proposed event. Director Centeno noted the July minutes indicate that the sub-committee was going to meet and define the Commission's role in the. project. The sub-committee consists of Commissioners Joseph, Slusser and White, with Commissioner Swope as alternate. Commissioner Slusser stated that the sub-committee still needs to meet to discuss the scope of the Commission's role in this project. A report from the sub-committee will be presented at the September meeting. -Parks for the Future Director Centeno announced that a bill is in the State Assembly which would allow San Mateo County to place a one-eighth of a cent tax for park improvements on a future ballot. -Community Garden Superintendent Hover said the permit for the Johnson Street property is currently at the San Francisco City Attorney's Office. -Park Tour, August 13 . Superintendent Hover reviewed the park tour of Spinas, Hoover and Red Morton p~rks. Commissioner Joseph said that several issues were brought up on the park tour and that feedback was needed from staff. A memo will be developed to address these issues and will be included in the next packet. ITEM 3 - REVIEW OF COMMISSION CALENDAR -Dates of particular City events will be added to calendar when available. ANNOUNCEMENTS -Commissioner Joseph announced she will be having surgery and will not be at the September meeting. .. -Gary Bonte of Planning Division spoke about working on the City's General Plan including updating the Open Space and Land Use Element. The Commissioners. indicated their interest in participating on the review of those elements. -Vice Chairperson Morton announced he will be starting the next PACT Program beginning on August 31. The meetings are normally held on Wednesdays and might conflict with a future Commission meeting. -The next meeting of the Precise Plan will be held on September 29. -Director Centeno stated that an article written by Chris Beth featuring our department's "PACT for Kids" is in the latest CPRS Magazine. i . ¡. ~; , ~. . ¡; .:.. ~.. ... . .
